Étages retenus :

  • planitaire (limite supérieure fixée arbitrairement à 100 m.)
  • collinéen (distinction arbitraire de deux étages : inférieur 100-500 m et supérieur : 500-800 m)

Les étages planitiaires et collinéens ont des forêts dominées par les chênes. L'étage collinéen supérieur peut présenter des faciès de chênaie-hêtraie.

  • montagnard : étage de la hêtraie-sapinière
  • subalpin : étage de la sapinière et de végétation de pins à crochets
  • alpin : zone sans végétation forestière
