Description
Ελληνικά: Η καρυδιά ( Καρυά, Juglans) ανήκει στην οικογένεια των Καρυοειδών. Tο πιο συνηθισμένο και γνωστό είδος είναι η Καρυά η βασιλική,λατινική ονομασία Juglans regia. Τα φύλλα της καρυδιάς είναι μεγάλα, μακριά, σύνθετα. Το κάθε φύλλο αποτελείται από 7-9 μικρά φύλλα, με ωοειδές σχήμα. Τα άνθη της είναι αφανή χωρίς πέταλα και τα αρσενικά σχηματίζουν ταξιανθίες. Ο κορμός της είναι παχύς και η διάμετρος του φτάνει τα 2,5 μέτρα. Η κοινή καρυδιά φτάνει σε ύψος τα 35 μέτρα και είναι γνωστή και με τις ονομασίες αγγλική ή περσική.
