Summary[edit]
English: Sometimes you're walking in the Grön valley and all of a sudden there's a hill on a flat spot. And it might have remained a mystery if it weren't for the ubiquitous permafrost scientists. This hill is called by a lovely word "pingo", in the national literature - "bulgunyakh", and in the textbooks of geomorphology not in the most poetic way - "cryogenic frost bump". Groundwater in the Arctic sometimes freezes, expands, and this ice lens pushes out, forming such a hill. |
