Summary[edit]
English: For five centuries, the ancient Russian village of Ust-Tsilma has been carefully preserving the culture of its ancestors. Clothing, crafts, language, songs, prayers, round dances – the shadow of the Middle Ages can be traced in everything. Ust-Tsilma is a real pearl of the Old Believers' culture, and the Ust–Tsilemskaya Hill festival is a living monument of folk traditions. The roots go back to the pagan cult of sun worship. The holiday has the status of "Non-material cultural heritage of Russia". Different generations of local residents, as well as guests from other villages, gather on the "Hill". Dressed up in traditional costumes, the participants lead ritual dances of complex magical figures. "Gorochniki" stage songs, so the holiday turns into a colorful theatrical performance. The costumes are more than a hundred years old, passed down from generation to generation, but there is also a new model.
