Description
English: St. John's wort (Hypericum montanum, also called Hypericum perforatum), Hypericaceae family. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, 30-100 cm tall. It has a strong, angular and branched stem and dark yellow flowers, which have 5 sepals, many pistils and stamens. The leaves are opposite, oblong-ovate lanceolate up to 5 cm, hairless above, hairy below without transparent dots, but with black dots along the margins of light green color. The Latin name comes from the presence of glands in the back of the leaves, which are filled with essential oil and give the leaf a perforated, holey appearance. It blooms from May to September. The flowers are formed in leafless clusters at the top of the stem, which is hairless, yellow in color with spots and appearing as if they have holes in the light (perforatum), leaves lanceolate, up to 5 cm, hairless above, below hairy without transparent dots, but with black dots along the margins.
