Description
עברית: מחצבת 4.5 מתחת לשכונת בן דור בעיר נשר, הטכניון ושוכנת נווה שאנן. המחצבה נקראת על שם הקילומטר ה-4.5 מתחנת רכבת חיפה מזרח. נמצאת מצפונה ומערבה של השכונה. המחצבה הוקמה בשנת 1929 על ידי חברת תעשיות "אבן וסיד" ונוהלה על ידי "הנהלת העבודות" שליד מרכז העבודה של ההסתדרות בחיפה. המחצבה משתרעת על שטח של כ-230 דונם. המחצבה נסגרה בסוף שנות ה-60 של המאה ה-20. והוכרזה כנטושה בשנת 1983. עברה שיקום על ידי הקרן לשיקום מחצבות. מחצבת 4.5 ממוקמת מדרום מזרח לצומת הצ'ק-פוסט . המחצבה, הנמצאת מתחת לקמפוס הטכניון בחיפה, אמורה להפוך לאזור תעשייה, מסחר ותעסוקה. הוחכרו שטחים המיועדים למסחר, לתעשיות עתירות ידע (הייטק), משרדים, מחקר ועוד. שטח המחצבה יחולק לחמישה אזורים – שלושה אזורי סחר, תעשייה ומשרדים; אזור מסחר ושירותים ; ואזור ספורט שבו יוקמו מתקני ספורט שונים לרווחת העובדים ותושבי העיר נשר.
