中文（臺灣）：漢人兵將信仰由來已久，民間認為神政體系的組織結構和人間是相似的，既然人世間的皇帝大官們有兵將可以使換，神明當然也應該有『兵將』可供差遣，故兵將信仰便孕育而生。早期只有較高位階神祇才有兵將可供使喚，但隨著信仰的演進，如今大部分的廟宇都有五營兵將的安置；但隨著都市化的腳步，兵將的崗哨多數已被裁撤，大部份的廟宇只在廟前或廟裡插上五色旗幟代表。不過在某些較傳統或偏僻小鎮，例如宜蘭縣蘇澳鎮毗鄰的嶺腳永安宮、港口永安廟及功勞埔定安宮，至今仍用稻草紮「五營兵將」，以庄頭或庄廟為中心，再依五行顏色青白紅黑黃，分別代表東西南北中五個方位而設「兵營」。這些神兵神將猶如地方的防衛部隊，除了必須鎮守主帥的管轄區域外，更擔負著保村護民，鎮邪避煞的重要使命。 |
