Tang Dynasty(618-907) From a Tang Dynasty hoard excavated in the village of Hejiacun, Xi'an City中文：兽首玛瑙杯，是至今所见唐代唯一的一件俏色玉雕，也是唐代玉器作工最精湛的一件，此杯选用世界上极为罕见的红色玛瑙琢制，这件以深红色、淡红色为主调的红玛瑙，中间竟夹有一层淡白，如此神奇自然的变化，如此鲜润可爱的色泽，使这块红玛瑙成为世间稀有的俏色玉材。
通高6.5厘米，长15.6厘米，口径5.9厘米。 酱红地缠橙黄夹乳白色缟带的玛瑙制作，上口近圆形，下部为兽首形，兽头圆瞪着大眼，目视前方，似乎在寻找和窥探着什么，兽头上有两只弯曲的羚羊角，而面部却似牛，所以不能认为造型完全出自写实的手法，但看上去安详典雅，并无造作感，兽首的口鼻部有类似笼嘴状的金冒，能够卸下，内部有流，突出了兽首的色彩和造型美。此杯琢工精细，通体呈玻璃光泽，晶莹瑰丽。 从轮廓上看，这种弧形的酒杯形似兽角，故也有称角杯的。这种形制，起源于西方，希腊人称之为“来通”（rhyton），后来才传播到亚洲。因此有的学者推测此杯是从中亚或西亚进献来的礼品。但深入研究者坚信，此杯出自唐人之手。兽首杯在制作之初，可能也想摸拟西方风尚采用羚羊之形，可由于对题材的生疏，所以最后成了现在的面目。据估计，它的制作年代当在8世纪前期。 |
