Description Alfama vient du mot arabe alhama, qui indique les anciennes fontaines situées sur la colline. C’est en effet un quartier situé en hauteur, sur les pentes de la colline du Castelo São Jorge. Le cœur populaire de Lisbonne bat dans l’Alfama, ce pittoresque dédale de ruelles, passages voûtés, petits patios. Ses maisons à encorbellement, dressées en différents styles architectoniques, témoignent de la variété des populations qui l’ont habité.
