Summary[edit]

Description

Image Title: North Fork of Boise River - Twin Springs

Date: c.1950

Place: North Fork of Boise River, Twin Springs, Idaho

Description/Caption: On verso, "The canyon of the North Fork of the Boise River in Idaho where the Bureau of Reclamation plans to erect a 350 foot concrete dam to be known as the Twin Springs dam. The congress authorized construction of this water conservation project by appropriating $1,000,000 for its commencement in the regular Interior Department Appropriation Bill this year. Twin Springs dam will create a reservoir with a capacity of 172,000 acre feet which will supplement the irrigation water supply of the 165,000 acre Boise federal reclamation project now served by Arrowrock and Deer Flat reservoirs. A power plant of 25,000 kilowatt capacity will be installed at the tow (sic) of the dam. The dam is estimated to cost $7,000,000 and the power plant $1,100,000. Part of the power from the power plant will be used in irrigation pumping. The tent in the foreground marks the site of the camp of the Reclamation engineers who have been investigating the dam site......9357x4000."
