Description
Français : Lettre "A" (intiale d'Audierne) d'immatriculation des bateaux de pêche au XIXe et début XXe siècles ː le "A" est inspiré des lettres et des onciales que l'on trouvait dans les publications religieuses ; en utilisant un tel modèle, les pêcheurs, dont la majorité étaient très croyants, voire superstitieux, voyaien tlà un moyen de se mettre sous une protection bénéfique dans un matier plus que périlleux ; c'est pour la même raison qu'ils ont choisi les chiffres à barbetout en courbes et en harmonie avec la forme de leurs bateaux pour inscrire leur numéro d'immatriculation (exposition chapelle Sainte-Évette d'Esquibien).
