Description
English: 080810-N-8933S-203 PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Aug. 10, 2008) Former Soviet submarine Juliett 484 and Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1647 are moored at Collier Point Park. The submarine sank at her mooring point in about 30 feet of water after a nor'easter struck Providence in April 2007. Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 2, a U.S. Army Dive Company and a Naval Sea Systems Command support unit used lift bags and pontoons, in combination with eight dewatering pumps to lift the submarine.
