The Karikkad Subrahmanyam complex in Manjeri has many historic shrines. Of these two – Thekkam Thevar and Vadakkam Thevar – face east. The Dharmasastha temple faces west, standing in front and middle of the two. Smaller shrines exist for Ganesha, Bhagavathy (Parvati). These temples have namaskaram-mandapam, sopanam, mukha mandapam, dwaja sthambam and bali pitha.

The Sastha temple is from 10th to 11th century. It is one of many apsidal plan Hindu temple found in Kerala. Inside the sanctum is square. The Subrahmanyam complex is notable as it also includes a circular plan Hindu temple and another with a square plan. The complex features Dravida vimanas, Hindu artwork on wood while the lower sections are made from granite.
