| Description |
English: 131 E. Main Street, in Bozeman, Montana, part of the Gallatin Lodge No. 6 Block.
The Freemason fraternal organization came to Bozeman in 1866, and Gallatin Masonic Lodge No. 6 formed in October of that year. The lodge purchased the Stafford & RIce Hotel at 137 E. Main later that year. The Stafford & Rice building was torn down in 1882 and the curent 137 E. Main erected. 131 East Main and 129 East Main were erected by the lodge at the same time. The ground floor exterior of 131 E. Main has been substantially altered since it was built. Gallatin Lodge No. 6 Block is a contributing property to the Main Street Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 21, 1987. |
