Object history Commande de 35 portraits en buste de « marins pour être placés dans les frises des salles de marine du Pavillon du Roi » pour 3000 francs (seuls 22 portraits ont été identifés, peut-être la totalité de la commande n'a-t-elle pas été honorée ?), 30 juin 1840 ; acompte pour 35 portraits 1885,62 francs, 5 mai 1842 ; collection Louis-Philippe ; mentionné dans le pavillon de Monsieur, 2ème salle des Marines (n°75 B), aile du Midi, rez-de-chaussée, dans l’inventaire de 1850. Dépôt le 4 octobre 1932 à Paris, musée des colonies (devenu musée des arts africains et océaniens) ; revenu à Versailles entre octobre 1972 et février 1973.
