Summary
[edit]Description1869 Kent Jail.JPG |
English: This small building served as a jail house in the village of Kent and was constructed in 1869 on what was then Day Street near downtown Kent. It is a rare example of a small building in the Victorian style and served as a residential home after its discontinuation as a jail. It was a private residence until 1999, when West Day Street was vacated for a Walgreen's and this tiny structure was bought by Kent Parks and Recreation, who moved it to nearby Fred Fuller Park located at 947 Middlebury Road. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 1978.
