| Description |
English: Red, white, and blue button that reads, “Jerry Ford / Kent County’s Own,” used in Gerald R. Ford’s 1976 presidential campaign. It features a blue shooting star design with “76” in the trail. Ford, born on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska, moved to Grand Rapids (Kent County) Michigan with his mother Dorothy Ayer Gardner as a young child to live in the home of her parents, Levi Addison Gardner and Adele Augusta Ayer. Ford attended Grand Rapids South High School, represented Grand Rapids, Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives for 25 years, and is burried in Grand Rapids, Kent County. |
