Description
Deutsch: 22.05.2006 01705 Freital-Birkigt, Coschützer Straße: Der 1907 eingerichtete Personenhaltepunkt (GMP: 51.014730,13.671159) Freital-Birkigt (ehemaliger Haltepunkt Potschappel-Birkigt) befindet sich am Gleisbogen zwischen dem ehemaligen Höllenmaul und dem Bahnübergang Coschützer Straße. Seine Bedeutung lag vor allem im Berufsverkehr zu den umliegenden Fabriken. Die Bahnstrecke Freital Ost-Possendorf wurde 1856 durch die Albertsbahn AG als Hänichener Kohlezweigbahn für die Abfuhr der am Windberg bei Freital geförderten Steinkohle erbaut. Im Jahr 1957 wurde der öffentliche Personenverkehr und 1993 der Güterverkehr eingestellt. Als eine der ältesten und technisch anspruchsvollsten sächsischen Eisenbahnstrecken ist diese seit 1980 ein Technisches Denkmal. Die Deutsche Bahn hat 1998 auch den Fahrbetrieb für Sonderfahrten zwischen Freital-Birkigt und Gittersee endgültig eingestellt. [DSCN10097.TIF]20060511010DR.JPG(c)Blobelt
