Summary[edit]

Description
English: When the railway was opened through Dawlish in 1846 there was a subway here to give access to the Boat Cove. Although the subway was replaced by a footbridge in 1879 the sea wall still has a kink where the subway used to be. In 2020 the wall was raised to improve flood protection on Marine Parade so a raised surface was provided to give people a better view where the wall is wider because of the the buried subway.
