Description
Deutsch: 10.04.2023 01189 Dresden-Gittersee: Brücke der Windbergbahn (GMP: 51.008620,13.691310) über die Karlsruher Straße. Die heutige Karlsruher Straße verbindet die Stadtteile Coschütz und Gittersee mit Plauen und ist zugleich wichtige Verkehrsverbindung nach Freital. Nachdem in Gittersee um 1810 Steinkohlevorkommen entdeckt worden waren, wuchs die Bedeutung dieses Verkehrsweges, der zwischen 1841 und 1844 zur Chaussee ausgebaut wurde. Ab 1855 überquerte eine Steinbogenbrücke der Windbergbahn die Straße. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde sie 1965 durch eine Stahlträgerbrücke ersetzt. Die Steilstrecke der auch als "Sächsische Semmeringbahn (R)" bekannten ersten deutschen Gebirgsbahn von der Talstation Freital-Birkigt nach Dresden-Gittersee ist eine große technische Meisterleistung des Eisenbahn- und Vermessungswesens ihrer Zeit. Die Strecke wurde in den Jahren 1855/56 nach den Plänen von Oberingeneuer Guido Brescius als Kohlenbahn projektiert und gebaut. Der Bahnhof Gittersee wurde im Jahre 1907 von den Königlich Sächsischen Staatseisenbahnen (K.Sächs.Sts.E.B.) [auch: K.S.S.E.B.] für den allgemeinen Güter- und Personenverkehr ausgebaut.
