Description
Nederlands: Romaans kapiteel in de kooromgang van de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek in Maastricht. De 20 figuratieve kapitelen dateren uit het midden van de 12e eeuw en behoren tot de hoogtepunten van de romaanse beeldhouwkunst in het Maasland. Het hier afgebeelde kapiteel wordt in de vakliteratuur aangeduid als kapiteel 8 ofwel het Heimokapiteel. Het toont een knielende figuur (Heimo), die een kapiteel aanbiedt aan Maria. Mogelijk betreft het de bouwmeester of meester-steenbeeldhouwer, die zichzelf heeft laten afbeelden.
