English: The branch from Boppard (on the Rhine valley) to Emmelhausen known as the Hunsrückbahn is the steepest non-adhesion line in Germany.
At the time of this visit in 1993, trains were worked in push-pull format with class 213 locomotives which were re-geared from class 212s to work this and other lines in the area. Seen on 28 March 1993, 213.334 is ready to work train 7584, 15:13 Emmelshausen to Boppard. The 15km long line used to continue through to Simmern. The operation was moved from Deutsche Bahn to Rhenus Veniro in 2011. |
