Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 330-PS-7429 (USN 668544): USS Carronade (IFS-1), a new-type of U.S. Navy ship into which the latest improvements in shipboard habitability have been built, was commissioned on May 25 in a ceremony at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington. Designated as an inshore fire support ship, Carronade is designed to replace the LSMR (medium landing ship, rocket), which was employed during World War II to give close-in fire support to the troops ashore. This photograph shows crew members standing by on deck as Carronade glides across the waters of Puget Sound during sea trials, May 27, 1955. (2/25/2015).
