| Description |
English: Sadly I did not record the date of this incident, but fortunately I DID have my trusty Instamatic in my satchel! The 47 was operating 1V11 New St.- Marylebone via High Wycombe which was our regular "school train" - 07.26 off Solihull. Approaching the Ford engine works at Leamington the 47 was signal checked and then failed! Luckily, the class 40 on an oil train (Kingsbury-Fawley anybody??) was able to detach from it's freight train, which was "parked" on the Coventry line, set back on to 1V11 and drew it into the station. Whereupon, the 40 ran round to retrieve it's train which then proceeded ahead of the still stranded 1V11 via the through roads seen in this shot. How long GJC was there before help arrived I don't know as we had to catch the school bus!. No date on the picture but I think Autumn 1975.
