May 4, 1972 Mr. Jerry Schoeber, Superintendent National Military Park Gettysburg, Pa. Dear Mr. Schoeber: This is to advise you that the Mississippi Gettysburg Memorial Commission met in the home of the sculptor, Mr. Donald DeLue, on Friday, May 28th and that full and final approval was given by the Commission, as follows: 1. The full scale model of the monument which we viewed and discussed at length. The monument had been corrected in accordance with your last letter and we approved every detail. 2. The plot plan as prepared by Mr. Cadori which includes apron and walkway constructed of the flagstone No. 1 from samples sent by Mr. Cadori. 3. The base of the monument to be constructed lac du bonnet granite with the inscriptions in accordance with the architects drawings now in your possession. This should be considered our letter of final approval and we trust that you can get this approval as quickly as possible as Mr. DeLue has a caster lined up to begin work on May 8th. If you need anything from us, please let me know and we will furnish it to you by return mail. With kind regards, we are Yours very truly, Mississippi Gettysburg Memorial Commission By: M.
