English: 19 June 2021 - Flying Scotsman hauls 'The White Rose' from London Kings Cross to York. Passing through Oakleigh Park, North London at around 7.49am.
Text on YouTube by 'BrickishRail' about the trip reads "A rather unfortunate day for LNER 60103 Flying Scotsman, with the locomotive on home turf running along the East Coast Main Line from London Kings Cross to York with 'The White Rose'. Originally the tour would have made haste along the mainline after collecting passengers from Peterborough but what came of this was instead a stop-start tour of almost every loop between Peterborough and Retford, with the locomotive failing to generate adequate steam for the journey. Eventually the world famous locomotive was deemed a failure, and a thunderbird rescue locomotive in the form of 47772 'Carnforth T.M.D.' set off from York, with the diesel dragging the tour the remainder of the way, not making Doncaster until over 3.5 hours late. After arriving at York, 60103 was moved to the National Railway Museum, where she sat alongside LMS Jubilee 45699 'Galatea', in the guise of 45562 'Alberta', whilst the 47 returned the tour back to London." youtu.be/7Ck0Lv93Wfg |
