The bayonet, which attaches to the M1 Garand rifle, symbolizes the unit’s close combat mission, also honoring the lineage of the 41st Infantry Division, the first American Division to deploy and the longest to remain overseas during World War II. The chief with the image of the oxen drawn covered wagon pays tribute to the pioneers, whose descendents comprise the unit.
