Summary[edit]

Description Mirage A3-36 of 75 Squadron RAAF after removal from a lowloader following its arrival from RAAF Base Tindal. This aircraft was recovered from the mud flats off Nightcliff following a pilotless crash landing. The pilot Flying Officer John Quaife had ejected when the aircraft flamed out on its approach to Darwin airport. The aircraft was subsequently given to the Aviation Heritage Centre in Darwin by the RAAF. Following the loan of the aircraft by the Aviation Heritage Centre to 75 Squadron RAAF for their 60th anniversary in 2002 the Mirage was rebuilt at Tindal and returned to Darwin in the condition seen in this photograph.
