Summary[edit]

Description
English: The history of colonization and independence of the peoples of South America is an indelible imprint on the memory and DNA of the indigenous peoples. After 200 years of independence, some 22 ethnic groups survive despite state oblivion and even Venezuelans themselves.

In their faces are drawn centuries of struggle that survive in the lethargic looks of each indigenous who seeks claims in the midst of "civilization" that prefers to keep them in books and not in the present.

Every October 12, Venezuela remembers "El Día de la Raza" which later became known as "Indigenous Resistance Day", and so many resist in the streets asking to survive, others selling handicrafts in their villages waiting for any tourist interested in "different cultures" or simply attending some march to hear applause and congratulations for being part of the origins, hoping to find claims and at least medical care, education and life.
