Summary[edit]

Description
English: This is an erasable programmable logic device (EPLD) made by Altera Corporation and designed in 1996 as indicated by the package. It has 300 usable gates, 16 macrocells, and operates at 100MHz maximum. This was pulled from an old laptop sold prior to 1999.

This chip was not very interesting under my normal lighting setup, so I experimented by shining an LED down the other eyepiece of my microscope to achieve an effect similar to what is seen with a metallurgical microscope. This had the consequence of washing out a lot of colours so I corrected for this in GIMP and Photo-shop. I also had my LED floodlight to the side to provide some additional light.
