Français : Titre : Annam, Pho Hai, sd – Panorama vu de la villa Montpensier

Notice : Vue prise depuis la villa du duc de Montpensier près de Phan Thiet. A Pho Hai, à 5 Km à l’est de Phan Thiet, le duc de Montpensier, grand colon et fameux chasseur, avait construit une villa où séjourna fréquemment l’empereur Bao Dai. Cette villa avoisinait le temple cham de Pho Hai. Le Duc de Montpensier fut l’un des pionniers de l’automobilisme en Indochine puisque, en mars-avril 1908, il fut le premier à rallier le temple d’Angkor en suivant l’ancienne voie royale, alors totalement délabrée. Cette randonnée, par Tay Ninh, Kg Cham, Kg Thom et Siem Reap, fut un véritable tour de force. (voir AP0188). Sur Phan Thiet, voir AP0671. La demeure du Duc de Montpensier a été célébrée par le poète Hàn Mac Tu dans l’un des grands poèmes du recueil Le Printemps idéal intitulé “Phan Thiet ! Phan Thiet !”. Il la désigne ainsi : “La demeure du Prince dont la rumeur du monde dit Que c’est un lieu où l’on a pleuré, où l’on a brûlé d’amour.” Sur Han Mac Tu, voir AP4961.
