A APA da Marituba do Peixe possui area de 18.600 ha e abrange os municípios de Feliz Deserto, Piaçabuçu e Penedo.

Foi criada pelo Decreto n°. 32.858/1988, com o objetivo de preservar as características ambientais e naturais para garantir a produtividade pesqueira e a diversidade da fauna e da flora, assim como assegurar o equilíbrio ambiental socioeconômico da região.

A flora é caracterizada por três formações nativas distintas: Restinga, Várzea e formações florestais. Está inserida nas Bacias Hidrográficas dos Rios Piauí e Marituba.

Possui Plano de Manejo e Conselho Gestor em atuação.
