Summary

[edit]
Description

A resident bird of India and South East Asia and a member of the Shrike family. Its a common bird in the deciduous forests and in thick urban forest areas. It is often sighted around the areas adjoining bamboo shrubs and maybe prefers it. Just like the other Shrikes it prefers larvae, grasshoppers, beetles, bugs and other insects usually under the dry leaves or grass in the forests. But unlike Shrikes it is not known to pierce them on thorns, but directly consumes them by swallowing head first.
