Description

One of the first sightings of the day - and we sighted couple of them. They are considered rare to the region. The area was a small forest and had a few large puddles of stagnant, smelly water and wet ground in many places - excellent habitat for flycatchers who relish the flies / insects around those areas.

The bird flew to this lovely perch and watched us chasing other birds and photographing them. The light was right for this wonderful portrait while it was looking at us.

The bird is migratory to Southern India during winter season. While the evidence of migration isn't clear, it is assumed that the bird breeds (Apr-Jun) in North East India, Myanmar and Northern Thailand and migrates to India during the non-breeding season first arriving to the west coast.
