English: A Norfolk jungle. Vegetation in late July is lush and green and the bracken here forms an impenetrable thicket. Foxley Wood > 895700 the largest remaining block of ancient woodland in Norfolk, is believed to be some 6,000 years old. It fell into neglect when demand for traditional woodland products declined during the 20th century but was purchased by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust in 1988 and has since been awarded the status of National Wildlife Reserve. http://www.bbc.co.uk/norfolk/nature/foxley_wood.shtml |
