Description

This beautiful bird is a rare visitor to our region and specifically found in only a particular area. The area is under a thick canopy (I struggle to shoot in there - hard and poor shots) and this bird tends to stick to the forest floor inside a dry bush - so we had to sit down on the damp soil and wait for it. And he didn't disappoint. A member of the Flycatchers, this a migratory bird to the forests of Southern India, mainly to Western Ghats / ranges and maybe to Ananthagiri Hill areas. The bird moves to Himalayas in Summer and to southern china for breeding. An insectivorous bird, it is often seen close to the ground picking off small insects for food.
