Description

We knew the bird was in the vicinity, but made no attempt to sight it. It just happened to fly quietly and sit above on this perch near to me. This bird is around 12-15 cm tall and is known by its distinctive Rust colored tail. A migratory bird from Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), it migrates to South India during winters.

This was also involved in the Water fight along with Indian Paradise, Verditer, Indian Blue Robin, Lesser Whitethroat, Tawny Bellied Babblers, Thrushes, Red Vented Bulbuls and Yellow Billed Babblers - all were on the edge of very small water stream. The stream is maybe 40-50 cms wide and just a 2-3 cms deep, but the heat made it necessary for the birds to get to the water often. The Red Vented Bulbuls and Yellow Billed babblers played goons there and continually chased away the other birds. Being one of the smallest birds of the group, it was the first to take flight.
