Description

Dunfermline i Skottland er Trondheims første og eldste vennskapsby.

Byen er Skottlands historiske hovedstad og stedet hvor skottenes mest kjente konge Robert Bruce er gravlagt. På samme vis er Trondheim Norges historiske hovedstad og stedet hvor Norges mest kjente konge Hellige Olav er gravlagt.

Det spesielle båndet mellom våre byer startet under andre verdenskrig, da mange trøndere var stasjonert i traktene ved Firth of Forth og Edinburgh.

Dunfermlines innbyggere sendte klær og annet for å hjelpe oss i nøden rett etter krigen. Mye mellommenneskelig kontakt og utveksling har funnet sted mellom våre byer i tiden fram til i dag som følge av dette båndet.
