Summary[edit]
DescriptionA photo from my personal collection of two panzer personnel of the assault artillery branch and a cavalryman taking a photo together, seemingly to show the height difference. (50680767306).jpg |
The two panzer men are wearing the panzer wrap uniform in fieldgrey. Both have been awarded the Iron cross, awarded for bravery in battle as well as other military contributions in a battlefield environment. And the Eastern medal, awarded for participating within the period from 15 November 1941 to 15 April 1942 on the eastern front. You were qualified after a minimum of 14 days in active combat, 60 days continuous of service in a combat zone or being wounded or suffering a "frozen limb", severe enough to warrant the issue of a Wound Badge. Both also have the wound badge, one in silver (wounded three or four times) the other what appears to be black (wounded once or twice). Next to these they have the General Assault Badge, awarded to those who supported an infantry attack but were not part of specific infantry units and therefore did not qualify for the Infantry Assault Badge. The man on the right also has the artillery gunner proficiency badge on his sleeve. The man on the left is a Hauptfeldwebel “Mutter der Kompanie” ("company mother") marked with the two white stripes on his sleeves. |
