Summary[edit]

Description
English: A slime mould - Mucilago crustacea (mature specimens). As this late stage of its development, the slime mould becomes blackened as the spore mass becomes visible. These fruiting bodies will eventually be broken up, and the spores dispersed, by rain.

This is the last of a series of four images showing different stages of the slime mould's development.
