Summary[edit]

Description A motley collection of Buddha statues forms an interesting foreground to a lady tourist taking pictures at the far end. I am now in the second tier of the Tham Ting lower cave at Pak Ou near Luang Prabang. Hundreds of very small and mostly damaged wooden Buddhist figures are laid out over the wall shelves. They take many different positions, including meditation, teaching, peace, rain, and reclining (nirvana). The statues are made from various materials too, including brass, wood and hard resin, like the red one in the immediate foreground. (Luang Prabang, Laos/ Lao PDR, April 2014)
