Summary[edit]

Description
English: Abbot's Tower Ancient tower house near Sweetheart Abbey. It is Scottish baronial architecture, rough stone with ashlar red sandstone facings and is now a modern residence. "The tower was built c.1580 by John Brown, on the lands of Lawne obtained by his father Cuthbert from Sweetheart Abbey; of which Cuthbert's brother John was the last abbot. The building was restored from an advanced state of ruin in the 1990's. Excuvations at this time, revealed a barmkin 21m wide x 39m long, with the tower in its south east corner." - Thanks, Matthew Hatton.
