Description
Català: Abraçada davant la Porta Daurada, mestre del retaule de la santa Creu o Miquel Alcanyís, tremp sobre taula, 106 x 50 cm, ca. 1395-1400, museu catedralici de Sogorb.

L'escena de l'abraçada davant la Porta Daurada és l'únic fragment conservat de l'antic retaule major de la catedral de Sogorb, dedicat a la Vida de Maria. Perdut la resta del mateix ja des d'antic, substituït per un nou retaule obra de Martín Torner a finals del segle XV, amb posterioritat algunes parts d'aquest primitiu retaule passarien a El Toro, localitat on es trobava aquesta peça, conformant un calaix amb altres taules de diversos retaules. El 1952 aquest calaix va ser comprat per la catedral de Sogorb, passant aquesta taula al Museu Catedralici.

L'obra que ens ocupa, que formaria part del carrer esquerra del retaule, en la part superior de la mateixa, ha estat atribuïda, a partir de Saralegui, a Miguel Alcanyís i relacionable amb el retaule de la santa Creu (València, Museu de Belles Arts), retaule de sant Joan de l'Hospital de València (New York, Metropolitan Museum i Hispanic Society), el retaule de sant Miquel (Lió, Musee de Beaux Arts) o el retaule de la Mare de Déu i sant Marc (València, Col·lecció Serra d'Alzga), si bé el professor Antoni José Pitarch ha qüestionat, per raons de cronologia, aquesta autoria i parla d'un anònim mestre, vinculat amb la pintura Toscana, especialment amb Agnolo Gaddi i Starnina.
