Description
English: Wall painting by Uri Ruff in the staircase of the Academy Building (Leiden University) (2008-2009).
Nederlands: "Het laatste vlak toont twee vrouwen die symbool staan voor het universele verlangen naar vrijheid. De vrouw met gitaar stelt de zangeres van de Russische punkband Pussy Riot voor die strijdt voor meer vrijheid in het onderdrukkende regime in Rusland. Op het lichaam van de andere, naakte, vrouw prijken de woorden Bastion of Liberty. Daarmee verwijst de kunstenaar naar Aliaa Elmahdy, een Egyptische vrouw die uit protest tegen het regime in haar land een naaktfoto van zichzelf twitterde." (Source: Leiden University News, 2021)
