Summary[edit]

Description
English: Damage from the November 15, 1989 tornado to strike Huntsville, Alabama. This is an aerial view from above the hill crossed by Carl T. Jones Drive, looking to the west-northwest. The old airport is in the background. Memorial Parkway (US-231) crosses the picture left to right, ending in the upper right. Airport Road runs perpendicular. Following up the left side of Airport Road from the date stamp, we see the shopping center with Carriage Cleaners which was destroyed, Trinity United Methodist Church with its buildings spread like wings, Holy Spirit Catholic Church almost completely flattend, the shopping center with Goldsbro wiped out, and additional apartments and businesses destroyed. On the other side of the street were offices and apartments. Photographed by NWS Birmingham during their storm survey.
