Summary[edit]

Description

c/n 6630, l/n 025 Built 1981 and delivered to the Argentine Navy with the serial 0767. On 24th April 1982 six of the ten MB339s then in service were flown to the Falkland Islands in support of the Argentinian invasion. After the conflict, one of the MB339s was brought back to the UK. A comsposite airframe, she was mostly 0767, but was fitted with the cockpit from ‘0761 / 4-A-110’, c/n 6624. She was initially put on display in a ‘Falklands War’ exhibition at the Fleet Air Arm museum, Yeovilton. In 1988 she was taken off display and moved to Rolls Royce at Filton where, minus her outer wings, she was used for development work relating to fitting the Viper jet engine in the proposed T-Bird II for the US JPATS competiton. By 2002 she had moved to the Rolls Royce Heritage Trust in Derby, where she was put in store. She moved to Doncaster during 2013 and has now been repainted back in Argentinian Navy colours.
