Русский: Находящийся в музее «Конный портрет», который поступил в Николаев в 1974 г. из Всесоюзного производственного комбината Министерства культуры СССР является одним из поздних портретов, исполненных художником. Из истории бытования произведения кроме того известно, что в 1913 г. портрет экспонировался на выставке этюдов и эскизов Товарищества передвижных художественных выставок в Москве под названием «Царь – освободитель» (для Болгарии).
Во время подготовки юбилейной выставки И.Е. Репина в 1936 г. картина, по-видимому, находилась в Третьяковской галерее, но в экспозицию включена не была. В монографию И.Э. Грабаря «Репин» (М., 1937 г.) работа вошла как «Царь Александр II » из собрания П.П. Саурова в Москве. Это была несомненно заказная работа. Дата создания картины – 1913 год – год 300-летия Дома Романовых – эта картина была одним из подготовительных эскизов к большому – портрету одного из самых уважаемых царей династии Романовых. |
