Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Alexgeorgea: The very slender stigmas emerge from a narrow tubular sheath of bracts. The purple portions of the bracts—just the tips of them—may break through the surface of the sand. The tube of bracts has the function of protecting (and directing) the styles on their way to the surface. If not so protected and directed, the styles would probable reach the surface damaged, if they reached it at all.
