Vom 7. bis zum 10. April 1945
trieben die SS und ihre Helfer
mehr als 4.000 Häftlinge
aus KZ-Arbeitslagern
in „Todesmärschen“
durch unseren Ort
in das KZ Bergen-Belsen.

trotz Bedrohung
durch die SS-Wachmänner,
mit Brot und Wasser zu helfen.

Der Tischler
Wilhelm Scheinhardt und seine Frau Alwine
versteckten und versorgten
neun französische Häftlinge
bis zum Einmarsch der britischen Armee

Zwischen Ovelgönne und Walle
wurde eine große Zahl von Häftlingen,
die nicht mehr weiter konnten,

von der SS erschossen.
