Page Text: Indorum Religio 'Oviedus de Indorum Occidentalium Religione agens : nullam in illis nationibus picturam aut sculpturam antiquiore vidisse ait, aut maiore reuerentia cultam, horrenda cacodaemonis effigie deformi specie facta.

Translation: Religion of the Indians. (Gonzalo Fernández de) Oviedus (y Valdés) dealing with the Religion of the Western Indians: he says that in those nations he saw no painting or sculpture more ancient, or worshiped with greater reverence, made in the hideous image of a cacodemon in a hideous form.
